Zest_Display_1-Digit

Overview

The Zest_Display_1-Digit is an electronics development board for 6TRON open source platform, featuring a 7-Segment digital displays.

The board is built around the TLC5916 8-Channel Constant-Current LED Sink Driver from Texas Instruments for use with Single Digit Numeric Display. The component uses an SPI bus for the selection of the LEDs. Total current is set using an onboard resistor.

2 alternative 7-Segment size of displays can be mounted:

  • 1.5inch (47 x 33mm) single digit numeric display (eg: SA15-11SRWA from Kingbright)
  • 1.8inch (56 x 38mm) single digit numeric display (eg: SA18-11SRWA from Kingbright)

In addition, the display can be replaced by 2 LEDs to form the time unit separator.

A supply voltage of 6V to 10V minimum is required to operate the large 7-Segments composed of series LEDs. The supply voltage input of the module is either VHV from the Bus or a 2-pin supply header.

The Zest_Display_1-Digit can be used as a stand-alone digit or interconnected with others to display letters, numbers and symbols in highly readable form. Different colors of 7-Segment displays can be used (Green, Red) depending on the reference selected.
